INTERNATIONAL VEIN WEEK
Every April, the South African Lymphatic & Venous Society (SALVS) in collaboration with the venous-lymphatic World International Network (v-WIN) would like to invite you to join the global public and health professionals venous-lymphatic awareness project called “The International Vein Week”. The initiative is not-for-profit and aims to promote the importance of proactively managing venous-lymphatic health to Health Care Practitioners, those afflicted with the disease and the lay public. Lymphatic and Venous Diseases affect the South African population at large. Venous-lymphatic Disease includes Deep Vein Thrombosis, Lipodoema, Lymphoedema, Spider Veins, Varicose Veins, and Venous Leg Ulcers. These conditions can have a negative psychosocial impact on patients and severely impact their quality of life. We hope that with your support, increased awareness will minimise the number of people struggling with Venous and Lymphatic disease. Support for this project can be shown by engaging with and sharing Vein Week content. This call to action is supported by a global contingent of world-renowned clinical experts. International Vein Week is customarily held during the first week of April each year, coinciding with the World Health Organisation’s “World Health Day” on 7 April.
